Terms of use

Last updated 12 August 2026.

Plain English, and a draft

These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. They describe honestly how PrairieTask works today. If something here contradicts what the product actually does, the product is right and this needs fixing — tell us.

1. What PrairieTask is

PrairieTask is a noticeboard. People post everyday tasks they need help with, other people offer to help, and the two of them talk to each other and decide whether to work together.

We are not a party to that arrangement. We do not employ helpers, we are not an agency, we do not supervise, direct or guarantee any work, and we do not set prices. The agreement is between the two of you.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be at least 18.
  • You must give accurate information about yourself. Impersonating someone else, or posting on behalf of a person who has not agreed to it, is not allowed.
  • You are responsible for anything done through your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us.

3. Posting and helping

  • Post real tasks you actually want done. Do not post spam or advertising.
  • Do not post anything illegal, unsafe, discriminatory, or work that requires a licence you do not hold — electrical, gas and plumbing work in Saskatchewan are the obvious examples.
  • Do not use PrairieTask to arrange anything that would be illegal to arrange in person.
  • We may remove any listing, and close any account, at our discretion.

4. Money

By default you arrange payment directly between yourselves — cash, e-transfer, whatever you agree. We take no fee and are not involved.

Where we offer the option to pay through PrairieTask, we hold the payment and release it to the helper when the poster confirms the work happened. We may charge a clearly-stated service fee on those payments only. That is a payment service; it does not make us a party to the work.

Some optional features are paid — currently featuring a task or a helper profile. Featuring buys placement in search results. It does not promise that anyone replies, and it is not refundable once the placement has run.

5. Verification and trust

Badges on this site reflect checks a third party actually performed, and nothing else. They cannot be bought. We do not personally meet, interview or vet anyone.A badge is information to help you decide — it is not a recommendation from us, and it is not a guarantee about anyone’s conduct.

Deciding who to work with, and who to let into your home, is your decision. See Trust & safety.

6. Reviews

Reviews can only be written by two people who were actually hired and confirmed the work happened. Write honestly. We may remove a review that is abusive, untrue, or not about the work.

7. Your content

What you write and upload stays yours. You give us permission to display it on PrairieTask so the service can work — a task nobody can see is not a listing. Removing your content removes that permission going forward.

8. Liability

We provide PrairieTask as-is. We do not promise it will always be available or free of errors.

We are not responsible for the conduct of anyone you meet through PrairieTask, for the quality or safety of any work, for anything that goes wrong while it is done, or for any loss, injury or damage arising from it. That risk sits with the two people who agreed to work together. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Consider whether your own insurance covers having someone work at your home, or covers you working at someone else’s. We do not provide insurance.

9. Ending it

You can stop using PrairieTask at any time and ask us to delete your account — see the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we reasonably believe someone is being put at risk.

10. Changes and law

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so rather than quietly changing the date. These terms are governed by the laws of Saskatchewan, Canada.
